Social Networking: More on the topic...

What is sometimes overlooked yet is so exciting about TMP’s WORK WITH ME application is that it’s just the beginning in regards to what can be done with social networking applications. TMP was able to create WORK WITH ME because Facebook operates on an open platform than allows anyone to create an application for others to use, which means the possibilities are endless.

Google has developed OpenSocial, which provides a common set of APIs (application program interfaces) across multiple websites. In plain English for we non-technicals, this means that developers, including TMP, can create an application that will work with any of the social websites that have adapted these APIs. Sites such as LinkedIn, MySpace, Friendster and others have implemented OpenSocial, opening the doors for WORK WITH ME and similar solutions.

Beyond creating applications within the Social Networks, employers are beginning to explore what they can incorporate into their career sites to keep candidates engaged and coming back. It's all about content--web users expect more and it must be readily available--what better way to deliver than through a useful application? Or through a proprietary network maintained by the employer?

Just a couple ideas to get you thinking about how social networking can impact your world.
