Social Networking in Plain English
The other day while perusing YouTube for examples of employee videos--yes, I have one of the few jobs out there that requires I frequent sites like YouTube and Facebook--I came across an interesting instructional video, "Social Networking in Plain English".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a_KF7TYKVc
It was developed by a company called Common Craft, their product being explanation. They take complex ideas, and boil them down to basics in simple, fun videos typically using hand draw cut outs of people and places.
The video discusses finding a job as one of the primary uses or benefits of a social network. We know that sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and MySpace hold a lot of potential, but some employers are still skeptical and many companies have yet to budget dollars specifically for social networking. There is still a lot of opportunity for companies to be early adopters in developing comprehensive Social Media strategies--for most, likely a combination of networking, community building and advertising.
Not to mention the power of video.
