Passive Candidates: once more, with feeling

With all due respect to David Perry, I'll take one more pass at this.

I believe the allure of passive candidates is a myth. It's an interesting myth, one that seems like it should be so "just because"--more sasquatch than Pegasus. But until I see strong evidence that correlates the real productivity and length of tenure of the average passive candidate with the higher salary the average candidate receives, call me Ishmael, not Icarus.
