BRINGING THE SONY PICTURES EMPLOYER BRAND TO SCREENS EVERYWHERE

Our unified platform, augmented by rich data and deep industry expertise, is revolutionizing how employers attract and hire the talent they need. See how we created a rich, branded experience through integrated content and a job search customized to meet Sony’s needs.

Our story begins when Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Head of Global Talent Acquisition, Ray Schneider, reached out to TMP. His hope: to find a partner capable of building a career site experience that would truly capture the creative vision, inclusive culture and passion of the Sony Pictures team.

Little did anyone know that 18 months later, that desire for a best-in-class experience would result in a Best in Show win at the 2020 IAC Award show! But… we’ll get to that in a minute.

A division of Sony Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment is a creative entertainment company built on a foundation of technology. Along with its sister companies, they make movies, television, music and games that engage billions and connect audiences around the world.

Sony Pictures is comprised of a community of storytellers who have created engaging and award-winning content  from TV shows like The Good Doctor, Wheel of Fortune and Breaking Bad to blockbuster movies like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the Jumanji franchise and the Oscar-winning Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse.

In fact, one of our primary goals when embarking on the production of Sony Pictures’ careers site was to create a rich, branded experience, position Sony Pictures as a trailblazer in the market, and “demystify” who Sony Pictures is within the Sony family and as an employer.

To bring Sony’s vision to life, we took a balanced approach to the imagery — featuring both their robust portfolio of content and sub-brands, as well as a showcase of the organization’s diverse culture in offices and locations around the world. Together, these images tell the story of what it is like to work at Sony Pictures, while shining a light on the types of TV and cinema content candidates would have a chance to influence if they joined the team.

The project included a multiphase global launch of the brand new sonypicturesjobs.com. Throughout the development process, we drew on our network of global creative experts, benefitting from their insights and expertise to ensure best practices for the various geographies.

Unique elements of the scope included the development of a custom interactive map feature so that candidates can see the global reach of the company and explore the global locations in more detail. To enhance this experience, the site is optimized to provide content in seven different languages — appealing to candidates wherever they sit and in whichever language they prefer. And many of the images dynamically change based on the user’s selected language setting — so a customized experience is created utilizing images from regional offices and locally popular programming.

Additionally, to promote career growth and development within the organization, the career portal has an internal-facing site that delivers opportunities and information about the process to current employees. Access to this exclusive experience begins with employees logging in on a gateway page.

Perhaps the most unique and differentiating factor that went into making this site was the global employee photoshoot that TMP and Sony Pictures partnered to produce. Over the course of about three months, scores of people at both TMP’s and Sony Pictures’ offices around the world worked together to capture life at this global company. The stats below sum this shoot up in a nutshell:

15,000+ PHOTOS

500+ SPE EMPLOYEES

10 LOCATIONS

8 COUNTRIES

4 CONTINENTS

4 ON-SET CREATIVE DIRECTORS

3 PHOTOGRAPHERS

=

100 FINAL IMAGES

The result is a site that combines innovative thought, design and messaging to define and differentiate Sony’s employer brand and convey the energy of the Sony Pictures team — and that ties it all together with amazing opportunities on a seamless, 100% mobile-optimized global platform.

SONYPICTURESJOBS.COM

The site launched successfully in October of 2019 — an effort that was celebrated in a 2-minute launch video that TMP produced to honor the milestone and celebrate our partnership with Sony Pictures. Almost immediately we saw our teamwork pay dividends, with the initial rounds of data showing:

UNIQUE VISITS + 117%

SITE VISITS + 97%

PAGE VIEWS + 97%

MOBILE VISITORS + 9%

GOOGLE ORGANIC TRAFFIC + 38%

In late 2019, both the website and the launch video were entered in the Web Marketing Association’s Internet Advertising Competition (better known as IAC) and won:

BEST EMPLOYMENT ONLINE VIDEO

BEST EMPLOYMENT WEBSITE

&

BEST OF SHOW WEBSITE*
*Meaning the site beat out every other site submitted to the competition! View the award here.

We think our client partners capture the sentiment best:

“This is such fantastic news — and coming at a time when I think we all need a bit of that. Seriously, this is amazing. A huge thank you to everyone who has touched this project on the TMP end and the SPE end. It truly has been a team effort — a real partnership.”

RAY SCHNEIDER, HEAD OF GLOBAL TALENT ACQUISITION

“I am so proud to be part of this award-winning team! It was a journey to make it to the other side of 10 global photoshoots, an interactive map featuring our offices around the world, seven languages, location-specific content, one internal version of the site and the design iterations necessary to get the branding just right, but it was well worth it for the enhanced candidate and employee experience we now have. And to win three IAC Awards on top of it is icing on the cake. Cheers to this partnership and to hopefully being able to celebrate in person soon.”

MARGO LANG, DIRECTOR, PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATION STRATEGY

Of course, no great accomplishment comes without the support of an amazing team, and in addition to our visionary partners at Sony Pictures, TMP’s list of contributors reads like a credit list on a major motion picture:

We are so proud to have been a part of this amazing adventure and look forward to our ongoing partnership in the future!
